RPB business of the year

Mission, SD – Rosebud Building Products owners will receive the 2026 South Dakota Woman-Owned Small Business of the year award by SD SBA Director Bryson Patterson next month.

Patterson will present the award during national small business week at the stores Mission location on May 8, 2026. The community is encouraged to attend and celebrate the stores achievement. Rosebud Building Products is a 100% native woman owned company located on the Rosebud reservation in South Dakota. Founded in 2005 and now led by sisters Ellen and Serena Harmon; Rosebud Building Products supplies building materials, equipment, and industry expertise to clients throughout the region. What began as a small family business has expanded and evolved into 3 divisions Rosebud Building Products, Rosebud Rental and RBP Supply serving homeowners, contractors as well as federal and tribal programs. With the staff of 15 employees, owner Ellen Harmon understands this is an accomplishment for all employees.

When asked how she felt about the recognition she shared this award belongs as much to our team as it does to us the people who show up every day, do the work and believe in what we’re building, this recognition is theirs too. Serena and I are proud, but we’re proud of the culture we’ve built together. We also want this to mean something beyond the company she added when we were starting out traditional lending wasn’t accessible to us. The SBA was and if our story can encourage even one person to believe that building something as possible, to access SBA resources to take that first step, then this award means everything.

Along with building materials, Rosebud Building Products operates a lumberyard, offers special order and government procurement services and rents equipment.
